Don Townsend
Production Manager and Chorusmaster

Don has been with Knoxville Opera since the very beginning. He began performing as chorister and comprimario with Knoxville Opera in its first year, became Chorus Master in 1984 and Production Manager in 1988. He is the founder and conductor of the Knoxville Community Chorus and has also worked with the Knoxville Chamber Singers, the Tennessee Valley Players theater troupe, Appalachian State Opera Touring Artists, and the Gregg Smith Singers. Townsend studied at Columbia University, Columbia Teacher’s College, and Indiana University.
