Education and Outreach Program
Knoxville Opera’s Education / Outreach mission is to enrich the lives of everyone in our East Tennessee community.
A variety of programs have been designed for groups to learn about and experience the thrill of opera and musical theater through intriguing encounters with singers, conductors, pianists, and stage directors.
Opera 101! is an entertaining education and outreach program for student and adult groups.
Starting with popular selections in English from 20th Century Broadway musicals, the presentation weaves its way back through musical theater history to great opera and operetta classics. Each concludes with a lively question and answer session, giving participants an opportunity to interact with the performers.
Repertoire can be “themed” at your request. These programs are performed by vocal artists from the distinguished Knoxville Opera Studio under the direction of Maestro Salesky.
Student Dress Rehearsals are overwhelming experiences of live full-length performances at the historic Tennessee Theatre.
Riveting drama and passionate music will transport you to places you have never dreamed possible! Teachers, students, and their families are welcome to attend fully staged dress rehearsals of our productions with projected English translations.
The Magic of Opera is a series of engaging multi-media seminars with Maestro Salesky.
Student and adult groups can choose from a variety of themes (popular operas and singers, producing opera from A to Z, celebrating the worst of opera, etc.) or create their own.
Rossini Festival Italian Street Fair
Voted the city’s “Best Festival,” enthralls tens of
thousands with a wide variety of cultural experiences.
Downtown Knoxville’s Gay Street and Market Square are transformed and provide the backdrop for nine hours of opera and jazz, classical and ethnic music, modern and folk dance, artisans and food vendors.
This extraordinary event also presents a golden opportunity to attend one of our professional productions!y of Tennessee Opera Theatre.
Opera Up Close is our program that brings groups into the exciting, private rehearsal room process.
