ACCESSIBILITY FOR PATRONS WITH DISABILITIES
Knoxville Opera is committed to serving persons with disabilities. The Civic Coliseum and Bijou Theatre contain orchestra level seating that is accessible to persons in wheelchairs. The Tennessee Theatre is accessible to physically disabled persons with elevator service to all floors. Knoxville Opera will designate and reserve wheelchair accessible seats exclusively for purchase by persons with disabilities and their companions for every performance as set below.
Wheelchair accessible seating is available in all price categories for all operas. If you need wheelchair accessible seating, please contact our Box Office directly at (865) 524-0795 ext. 1, so that we may ensure it is available on the night you plan to attend a performance.
Releasing Wheelchair Accessible and Companion Seats
- Two days (48 hours) after all non-accessible seating is sold out in the entire auditorium, Knoxville Opera will release one-half of all unsold designated wheelchair accessible and companion seating for sale to the general public.
- One week (168 hours) before a non-sold out performance, Knoxville Opera will release one-half of all unsold designated wheelchair accessible and companion seating for sale to the general public.
- Within 24 hours of a show, all accessible and companion seating will be released for sale to the general public in all price classes.
Parking
Parking spaces for vehicles with handicapped stickers or license plates are available in the Civic Auditorium garage, the State Street Parking Garage at the Tennessee Theatre, and the parking lot directly next to the Bijou Theatre. These parking spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Restroom Facilities
Patrons who use wheelchairs can find wheelchair accessible stalls in the lobbies of the Civic Auditoirum, the Bijou Theatre and the Tennessee Theatre.
Interpretation for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired
Every Sunday matinee performance is ASL-interpreted for the deaf and hearing impaired. Knoxville Opera reserves seating for our deaf and hearing impaired patrons in the sightline on the interpreters. One week prior to an interpreted performance, these seats are released for sale to the general prublic. In the event of a sell-out prior to this date, the reserved seats are released two days (48 hours) after all other seats have been sold. Please purchase your tickets in advance and make the ticketing agent aware of your seating needs when making your purchase. Knoxville Opera cannot guarantee visibility of the interpreters when seats are purchased at the ticket window the day of the performance.
