Guests with disabilities who require any show-related publications in an alternative format, such as large print or braille, should contact Knoxville Opera a minimum of three weeks prior to the show date. Tickets must be purchased at the time of the request in order to process the request for alternative format materials.
Civic Auditorium – Elevator access is NOT available to the balcony of the auditorium; however, accessible seats are provided on the main floor. The venue provides accessible seating areas for people with disabilities. Proof of disability is not required to purchase accessible seating. Each wheelchair-accessible space can be accompanied by one (1) companion seat that may be purchased for the same price per seat. If more than one companion seat is desired, staff will attempt to seat the remainder of the party as close to the wheelchair/companion seats as possible based on the availability of remaining seats at the time of purchase.
Tennessee Theatre – Wheelchair Accessible seating is available upon request and subject to availability. These is elevator access to all floors. The Tennessee Theatre has a variety of accessible seats available for wheelchair patrons and their companions on the floor level and in the balcony. Transferable seating is also available. These are aisle seats in the orchestra area with hinged side arm rests that allow the patron to easily transfer from the wheelchair into the theatre seat. A list of those seats is available on the Tennessee Theatre website.
Bijou Theatre – Elevator access is NOT available to the balcony of the Bijou Theatre; however, accessible seats are provided on the main floor. Each wheelchair-accessible space can be accompanied by one (1) companion seat that may be purchased for the same price per seat.
Civic Auditorium – The venue provides accessible parking in Garages A and C, as well as the designated parking lot on the south side of Howard Baker Jr. Boulevard across from Garage B. There is no additional charge for accessible parking with a current valid license plate or hang tag displayed.
Tennessee Theatre and Bijou Theatre – Parking garages and lots in the area all have accessible parking for vehicles that have the proper hanging tag or license plate. Deaf/Hearing Impaired Accommodations
Full-length opera productions at the Civic Auditorium and Tennessee Theatre are presented with English translations projected above the stage. Assisted Listening Devices are available at the Civic Auditorium and the Tennessee Theatre the day of performance upon request and subject to availability.
The outdoor Rossini Festival spans 14 blocks of downtown Knoxville, including Market Square, Church and Market Streets, and is equally accessible in accordance with City ordinances. No ramps to sidewalks are obstructed by the Festival. All locations where public restrooms are located on the day of the Festival include at least one accessible restroom.
