Join the Knoxville Opera Family of Contributors

Your support empowers Knoxville Opera to make our community a better place to live and experience the performing arts by serving 50,000-100,000  each year with about 100 Education/Outreach events and three major opera productions.  As income from ticket sales covers less than 25% of our annual production budget– we must rely on private donations, foundations, government agencies, and businesses for support. All contributors are members of Knoxville Opera during the fiscal year of the donation and are listed on our website. Donations of $25 and higher are also listed in our opera production playbills.

Your contribution…

  • supports arts education for students in schools, Boys & Girls Clubs, and YMCA After-school Programs in addition to free student admission to exciting Student Dress Rehearsals.
  • contributes the revitalization of downtown Knoxville. Knoxville Opera’s annual Rossini Festival International Street Fair brings tens of thousands of people to downtown Knoxville to enjoy a thousand performers and a variety of artisans and food vendors, all of whom contribute to the local economy.
  • makes Knoxville a better place to live and work by being a cornerstone of the rich cultural fabric of our entertainment community. Knoxville Opera is one of only three of Tennessee’s 25 Major Cultural Institutions located in Knox County.
  • supports our engagement of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra.
  • enables Knoxville Opera to offer 100+ paid performing opportunities each year to current and former students of the University of Tennessee School of Music, which includes roles in our productions.
  • means our community can enjoy international-standard opera productions here in Knoxville featuring outstanding vocal talent from all over the world.

Legacy Society

Planned giving is the perfect way for you to express your appreciation of the impact Knoxville Opera has in our community and on the lives of all the artists we are privileged to present. It can also be an important element of your overall financial, philanthropic, and estate planning, as a planned gift may be as simple as naming Knoxville Opera a beneficiary of your 401(k), IRA, pension fund, will, or trust.  Some donors may also consider a gift annuity or charitable remainder trust, which provides income or tax benefits to the donor. The process is simple.  The impact is substantial.

Knoxville Opera is committed to protecting and preserving your planned gift, and we would love to hear about your interests and goals.  If you have any questions about types of gifts, related taxes, gifts that can provide income, or other matters, we can put you in touch with experts who are available for consultation and guidance.

Please contact Executive Director Brian Salesky at 865-524-0795 ext. 231 or email bsalesky@knoxvilleopera.com to discuss planned gift opportunities.
