To All Our Fellow Opera Lovers
Thank you so much for your support of Knoxville Opera! The 2017-2018 Opera Season (our 40th Anniversary) is going to be fantastic—and the support of Knoxville Opera Guild members like you are what help make it possible. We hope that you’ve received your ticket subscription form and have seen, or are planning on seeing, the three productions planned for this season: 40th Anniversary Gala Concert, Turandot, and Aïda. We’ve also designed fun, innovative events to compliment these operas that we think you’ll truly enjoy!
Knoxville Opera Guild’s events begin with our Annual Membership Party on which is then followed by an exciting, new Opera Ball on October 28, 2017. The spring brings our popular Martini Party, and our Annual Croquet Tournament. Throughout the season, Knoxville Opera Guild members will receive invitations to our pre-opera dinners and brunches as well as “Monday Night at the Opera” events. It’s going to be a great year, and we hope that you will join us!
Please take a moment to either join or renew your membership for another great year of Knoxville Opera performances and fun events. Knoxville Opera Guild (formerly East Tennessee Opera Guild) is a non-profit, volunteer organization created in 1992 to support Knoxville Opera and to provide a means of fellowship for opera lovers. Through fund-raising and educational activities, the Guild makes opera accessible to an increasingly diverse audience and enhances the quality of life in our community.
Knoxville Opera Guild is a volunteer organization whose mission is to promote the appreciation of that magical combination of voice, music, and drama called opera, and to support the production of this wonderful art form in the greater Knoxville area. Through a variety of fund raising events, which include an Annual Gala Ball, an Annual Martini Party, and an Annual Croquet Tournament, the Guild annually raises more than one hundred thousand dollars for Knoxville Opera. In conjunction with Knoxville Opera, the Guild also provides an education program that’s designed to foster an appreciation of opera in community schools and civic centers.
We Foster Young Talent
Knoxville Opera Guild works with regional and national organizations to encourage and support aspiring, young operatic talent. This is particularly evident in our annual involvement with the Metropolitan Opera National Council District Auditions program and in our support of the University of Tennessee School of Music’s Opera Theater program. Many of the events associated with these programs are offered to the public free of charge.
Where Opera Lovers Meet
The Guild also provides a social structure within which opera lovers can network. This is achieved through the organization of events, such as: cast parties that welcome visiting performers of Knoxville Opera productions, pre-opera dinners and brunches prior to Knoxville Opera performances, Monday Night Opera dinners at local restaurants that feature operatic performances by UT Opera Theater students, and other informal gatherings that often include artistic performances.
